Bill Clinton and Hillary have been married for 46 years – she rejected him twice before saying

Bill Clinton rose to global fame upon becoming US President in 1993. Despite his political achievements, his legacy is partly overshadowed by his affair with intern Monica Lewinsky. However, Bill has maintained a long marriage with Hillary Clinton, enduring many challenges together.

Born in Hope, Arkansas, in 1946, Bill faced adversity early on. His father died before he was born, and his stepfather, Roger Clinton, was abusive. Despite this, Bill excelled academically and musically. A pivotal moment in his youth was meeting President John F. Kennedy, which inspired his political aspirations. He later attended Georgetown University, won a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford, and earned a law degree from Yale, where he met Hillary Rodham.

Bill and Hillary’s relationship began at Yale. They bonded over shared interests in politics, working together on George McGovern’s presidential campaign. Bill proposed to Hillary three times before she accepted, and they married in 1975. Their daughter, Chelsea, was born in 1980.

Bill’s political career advanced as he became Governor of Arkansas and later, US President. However, his presidency was marred by the Lewinsky scandal. The affair, which lasted two years, became public in 1998, leading to significant personal and public turmoil.

Despite the scandal, Hillary chose to stay with Bill. She pursued her political career, serving as a US Senator and later as Secretary of State. She ran for president in 2016, losing to Donald Trump. Throughout their careers, the Clintons have remained a united front, celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary in 2022.

Today, Bill and Hillary continue to support each other, their marriage enduring through numerous trials and triumphs, demonstrating a lasting partnership.
