Alan Jackson’s Daughter Gives Birth to ‘So Handsome’ Son – Fans Divided on Whether He Looks Like Dad or Grandpa

Alan Jackson became a two-time grandfather in 2024 when his oldest daughter, Mattie Jackson, gave birth. The country musician’s daughter shared social media photos of the baby boy, eliciting comments from followers.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, she uploaded a video of her son with the words, “Welcome to the center of our world Wesley Alan [Smith].” The caption also included a blue heart emoticon. It seems Mattie honored her father by giving her son his name.

Fans saw more pictures of the precious baby boy on her Facebook account. The singer’s daughter explained that her life changed forever a week ago, on June 20, 2024, when she welcomed Wesley Alan, her first child, into her family.

She revealed, that his birth coincided with her birthday, June 19, and was the best gift she “could have ever imagined.” The 34-year-old said being chosen by God to be Wesley’s mother is an honor that surpasses all others.

The country musician’s daughter also noted that there is “no sweeter joy” than watching Wesley’s father adore and protect him already. She shared how the family dog, Ryman, has “reluctantly warmed up” to having a new younger brother.

Mattie said Wesley has her heart and prayers and revealed the child’s name was also related to her husband’s grandfather. She concluded that if her son would be anything like the people he was named after, he would have “quite a life ahead” of him.

Her followers were thrilled for her, with some congratulating Mattie. Others compared who the baby boy looked more like between Connor’s grandfather and Alan.

Someone who compared the child on Mattie’s Instagram post wrote, “Congratulations! He’s got his daddy’s eyes!” Another person supported the first poster’s outlook, saying, “Aww…he looks just like your husband.”

A netizen with a different outlook reckoned, “I see a little Alan J in the pic of Wesley laying against the dog! God bless you all!!” Agreeing with the previous commenter, a fan stated, “Love the name. He looks like your Dad. So precious.”

Mattie’s pictures showed little Wesley lying on her chest at the hospital and the child’s parents posing with him at the same place. The little boy was also seen leaving the hospital with his delighted parents, and two pictures showed him posing with Ryman.

Connor Smith also got a special dad moment to hold his son while the dog stood guard. On May 4, 2024, Mattie uploaded several Facebook pictures of her and her husband’s family and friends attending their baby shower.

The event was held on the weekend before her post went up. The first image in the carousel showed the happy but heavily pregnant Mattie. The then-soon-to-be parent was dressed in a blue dress and the room was decorated with balloons in different shades.

Connor’s wife shared that she and her baby got “absolutely showered with love and sweets and treats” by some of her “most favorite women in the world.” She received things like car seats, clothes, and everything she and her husband needed to get ready for Wesley’s birth.

The excited parent said it had been years of tears, dreams, and prayers that were finally becoming a reality. She also noted how her husband was so used to hearing her happy cries and had been a “champ,” setting up walkers and play seats they wouldn’t need for months.

Mattie’s husband was preparing them super early because the couple just wanted to look at them. At the time, Alan’s daughter revealed that they still had eight weeks to go before their baby boy arrived and they couldn’t wait to meet him.

On June 6, 2024, Mattie started a countdown to her son’s birth by sharing more images showing her pregnant belly. The pictures showed her and her husband posing outside, and some included the family pet.

She revealed that there were only a few weeks before they met their baby boy and seemed surprised. Alan’s daughter confessed that her pregnancy had been the fastest and most “unbelievably beautiful season.”

She vowed to cherish the little moments with her babies, referring to her husband and dog, as they waited for Wesley’s arrival. The star’s daughter was also grateful to Caitlin Floyd, a Nashville photographer, for the pictures and called her talented and a treasure.

While waiting for Wesley’s arrival, Mattie celebrated Father’s Day on June 16, 2024, with a close-up photo of her and Connor. In the picture, he stood behind her and smiled while they cradled her baby bump. Mattie noted how she counted down each day until she could see him being a new father.

She also extended well wishes to all the “amazing daddies out there!!” Two days later, Caitlin uploaded several images of the couple from their pregnancy photoshoot.

Caitlin revealed she couldn’t wait to see her “dear friend” become a first-time mother. The photographer admitted that Mattie had taken a difficult road to get where she was. Yet, she wouldn’t want anyone else to travel down the same road.

Caitlin also referred to it as a journey that made the pregnancy sweeter and “full of redeeming love.” She said “baby boys” have her heart and she is “beyond excited” to meet Wesley.

Long before the arrival of her little one, Mattie announced her pregnancy on February 9, 2024, by posting pictures on her Facebook and Instagram accounts. Part of the excited caption Read, “We are absolutely thrilled to share BABY BOY SMITH coming this June!”

Photos included her ultrasound, her cradling the developing baby bump, and the couple smiling while holding Mattie’s stomach. A close-up of their baby’s sonogram was added along with Ryman posing with the ultrasound hanging from his collar.

Long before Mattie’s pregnancy, Alan sadly lost his mother, Ruth Music Jackson, and then his son-in-law, Ben Selecman, passed on. He struggled with the loss so much that he took a break from his successful music career.

But, more than anything, the father of three was probably concerned for his daughters. In a 2021 interview, he confessed, “When you’re the daddy and you kind of feel like you’re the head man, and you’ve got your wife and your daughters and everybody, you really hurt more for them going through it.”

He eventually got himself back to the work he loved the most. Previously, his wife noted this about her famous husband and his career, “He’ll have so many songs for our grandchildren and our great-grandchildren to hear and know who he was.”
